This issue presents a multidisciplinary perspective, addressing current topics in public health and scientific research. First, it analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, describing its viral origins in Wuhan and detailing how the population of Toacazo used medicinal plants, such as eucalyptus and ginger, based on traditional knowledge to prevent and treat respiratory symptoms. Second, the document explores the sociodemographic challenges posed by global aging, resulting from the significant increase in life expectancy. Finally, it includes a critical and reflective analysis of the fundamental importance of scientific journals and editorial work. Despite being a silent and often unrecognized endeavor, it is the indispensable driving force behind the visibility and accreditation of institutional academic development.
