This issue of the journal presents an academic reflection and two highly relevant retrospective clinical studies. It begins by raising a debate on scientific publication, questioning the contemporary dilemma of documenting practical experiences versus writing formal research papers to measure professional competence and integrity. In the pediatric field, the article analyzes morbidity and mortality from ferrous sulfate poisoning in children under five years of age admitted to the Children's Hospital. The study warns of the increase in these serious home accidents, which have reached an alarming mortality rate of 24.7%. Finally, an obstetric investigation at the Women's Hospital evaluates gestational weight gain as a risk factor for hypertensive disorders such as preeclampsia. However, the results obtained in the analyzed sample did not statistically confirm this clinical correlation.
