Ethical responsibilities
Ethical responsibilities
Responsibilities of editors:
- A journal editor has a vital position in making important editorial decisions about all peer-reviewed articles submitted for publication.
- The editor must maintain transparency of academic research and registration, prevent professional needs from cooperating with ethical standards, and always be willing to publish retractions, rectifications, and errors when necessary.
- The editor must evaluate manuscripts for their scientific quality and intellectual content, free from biased decisions based on discrimination based on the authors' race, gender, geographic origin, or religion. The editor must evaluate manuscripts objectively based on their academic merits and without any commercial or self-interest.
- The editor must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts prior to the publication of such manuscript.
- The rectitude of the investigation must be preserved. If at any time the publisher suspects any kind of misconduct in the investigation, it should be investigated immediately and in detail with appropriate authority. In addition, if any suspicious acts are observed in peer review, they should be resolved diligently.
Responsibilities of reviewers:
- Provide a detailed, constructive, and impartial evaluation in a timely manner on the scientific content of the work.
- It indicates whether the writing is relevant, concise, and clear and assesses originality and scientific accuracy.
- Maintain the confidentiality of the entire review process.
- Notify the journal editor of any financial or personal conflicts of interest and refuse to review the manuscript when there is a possibility of such a conflict.
- Notify the journal editor of any ethical concerns in their evaluation of submitted manuscripts, such as any violation of the ethical treatment of animals and/or human subjects or any substantial similarity between a previously published article and any revised manuscript.
Responsibilities of the authors:
- All work reported in the manuscript must be original and free of any type of plagiarism.
- The paper should not have been published elsewhere or submitted to any other journal at the time of submission to Current Opinion Nursing & Research (CONR).
- Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly acknowledged.
- Corresponding acknowledgments must be given to other referred/cited works (by any individual, company or institution). Permission must be obtained for any content used from other sources.
- Only those who have made a substantial contribution to the interpretation or composition of the submitted work, should be listed as "Authors". While other contributors must be mentioned as "co-authors".
Editor's Responsibilities:
- Current Opinion Nursing & Research (CONR) is committed to working with the journal's editors, clearly defining their relevant roles, in order to ensure appropriate decisions regarding publication procedures and to maintain the transparency of editorial decisions.
- Current Opinion Nursing & Research (CONR) guarantees the integrity, autonomy and originality of each published article with respect to:
- Publication and funding of research.
- Ethical publication and rectitude
- Conflict of interest
- Confidentiality
- Literary paternity
- Item Modifications
- Timely publication of content
Protection of people and animals. All studies involving data, maneuvers, treatments, etc. In humans, they must have the written authorization of an ethics committee of the participating institution, which must be sent by email to the editor of the journal, in addition to following the ethical standards of the World Medical Association and the Declaration of Helsinki available at: http://www.wma.net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/.
Authors should mention in the "Methods" section that the procedures used on patients and controls have been performed after obtaining authorization from the ethics committee of their institution.
Confidentiality. Authors are responsible for following the protocols established by their respective health centers to access data from medical records in order to carry out this type of scientific research, so they must declare compliance with this requirement. The author has the obligation to ensure that he or she is in possession of written informed consent for each subject's participation in the study. The authors should mention in the "Methods" section that the procedures used in the study subjects were performed after obtaining informed consent.
Privacy. The author is also responsible for guaranteeing the right to privacy of patients by protecting their identity both in the writing of the article and in the images. You will not use names, initials or hospital medical record numbers (or any other type of data irrelevant to the research that could identify the patient) either in the text or in the photographs, unless such information is essential for scientific purposes, in which case you may include it in the article provided that the patient or his/her parent or guardian gives written informed consent for its publication.
Funding
Authors must declare the origin of any financial aid received.
Authorship
Current Opinion Nursing & Research (CONR) follows the requirements established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors for authorship. The list of authors should include only those people who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work. Having helped in the collection of data or having participated in some technique are not in themselves sufficient criteria to appear as an author. In general, the following requirements must be met to appear as an author:
- Have participated in the conception and design, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation of the data of the study that has resulted in the article in question.
- Have participated in the drafting of the text and in possible revisions.
- Have approved the final version, which will be published.
- Have agreed to accountability for all aspects of the study, to resolve questions related to the accuracy and completeness of any related topic.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors meet the requirements for authorship.
Each author will agree that the corresponding author will be responsible for submitting the manuscript to the journal. By submitting this manuscript, each author indicates that they have had full access to all data from this study and assume full and public responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the data analysis. Once the work has been submitted, it will not be possible to make changes in the order and number of authors, so all issues related to authorship must be resolved before submitting the manuscript for the first time. The number of authors will depend on the type of manuscript submitted.
In the case of collective authorship, the name of the editors or those responsible for the work will be included followed by "and the Group..." when all the members of the group are considered co-authors of the work. If you wish to include the name of the group, even if not all its members are considered co-authors, the responsible authors will be mentioned followed by "on behalf of the Group..." or "by the Group...". In any case, the names and institutions of the group members will be included in an annex at the end of the manuscript.
The authors will state and declare, both on the first page of the title and in the section that they have read and approved the manuscript; and that the requirements for authorship have been met.
The journal declines any responsibility for possible conflicts arising from the authorship of the works published in it.
Conflict of interest
A conflict of interest exists when the author had or has economic or personal relationships that may be considered as a cause of bias or of influencing the results of the study. The potential conflict of interest exists regardless of whether or not the authors consider that these relationships influence their scientific judgment. The authors will describe, in the letter of originality of authorship, any financial or personal relationship that they had or have, at the time of writing or submitting the manuscript, with people or institutions and that could give rise to a conflict of interest in relation to the manuscript that is submitted for publication.
Obtaining Permits
Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permissions to partially reproduce material (text, tables, or figures) from other publications. These permissions must be requested from both the author and the publisher who has published the material. Publication permission is required from the institution that has funded the research.
The authors will declare that the content of the manuscript is original and that it has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted or submitted for consideration in any other publication format either in whole or in any of its parts.
To do otherwise constitutes a serious breach of scientific ethics. In the same way, authors who reproduce previously published materials (text, tables or figures) in their article are responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to reproduce these materials in the journal. Authors must have obtained written authorization from both the author and the publisher that has published this material and send a copy to the journal.
Redundant or duplicate publishing
The journal does not accept previously published material and will not consider for publication manuscripts that are simultaneously submitted to other journals, nor redundant or duplicate publications, that is, articles that substantially overlap other already published, in print or in electronic media. Authors must inform in the letter of originality of authorship about previous submissions or publications of the same work, in whole or in part, that may be considered redundant or duplicate publication. It is necessary to cite and include the bibliographic reference of these previous publications in the new manuscript. These restrictions do not apply to published abstracts of papers, papers or conferences presented at national or international scientific meetings.
