Gut microbiota. An indicator that has an impact on human health

Authors

Abstract

The human intestine is considered a complex organ given its functions and the large number of bacterial genera and species it harbors. It has been postulated that the intestinal tract (IT) has the most abundant and diverse bacterial population in the human body, forming a reservoir with an internal surface area of approximately 200 m², 100 times the surface area of the skin.
